The basic concepts of research and investment development were designed and implemented in 2002. The future managing company ChemRar High-Tech Center and its “anchor” research organization, Closed Joint Stock Company “Chemical Diversity Research Institute” (CDRI CJSC), were established at the same time.

Unique R&Ds, highly appreciated by the international scientific community, are being registered since 2001. Given the success of many years of cooperation, the partners of CDRI offered to find investors to organize a research center in Russia working in the field of pre-clinical drug development. In 2003–2004 a laboratory building in a poor condition on the territory of the former State Enterprise Scientific-Research Institute of Radio in Khimki, Moscow region, with an area of 19 thousand square meters was bought for the project and renovated within a year.
